Netflix to Debut Series on Minnesota Republican Politics

Netflix announced a new series that will be available on their streaming platform in December featuring recently re-elected House Minority Leader Kurt Daudt “aka RINO King”. The plot follows Daudt, a confirmed bachelor, and aspiring politico, as he navigates a career running a wild lobbying firm in the Washington D.C. area.

The series creators told Minnesota Loonatic they were looking for a flamboyant character who marginally represents the Republican brand. What they found out about Daudt made the story more interesting. “I’m not going to give any spoilers” uttered series creator, Jan Boheme, “but Daudt has a private life that most are unaware of.”

The majority of the filming occurred at Daudt’s residence on Spectacle Lake, but the crew also followed Daudt as he made frequent trips to his Washington D.C. office to meet with his young, male lobbyist crew. While serving in his role as chief lobbyist, Daudt simultaneously serves as a state legislator in Minnesota.

One episode features Daudt with a young male friend in Montana tying to purchase a used vehicle. Suddenly the vehicle deal goes south and Daudt’s companion brandishes a gun and points it at the seller. This episode appears to be a re-enactment of an actual event that occurred in 2013 according to the Star Tribune.

This is the second Minnesota Republican legislator to be featured on a reality tv show. Representative Mary Franson was in the original cast of Season 29 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, but lost her spot on the final roster to the more talented, Carole Baskin.
